About Erin Crawford & Crawford Educational Psychology

19 Years of Experience with One Clear Mission

Understanding and supporting your child shouldn't feel this hard.

Comprehensive, neuroaffirming evaluations that give San Francisco Bay Area families the answers they need and a clear plan for what to do next.

Erin Crawford, Licensed Educational Psychologist, serving San Francisco Bay Area

A Chance to Go Deeper

For nearly two decades, I worked as a school psychologist inside public districts across Marin, Sonoma, and Contra Costa counties, as well as in Newton, Massachusetts.

I showed up for other people's children the way I'd want someone to show up for my own, sitting with them during their hardest moments and advocating for the support they needed to succeed. The work was, and still is, incredibly important.

But I kept noticing a gap.

Where the System Falls Short

Families would leave meetings with paperwork, reports, eligibility decisions, meeting summaries, and still not quite have what they needed most: time with someone who could explain what it all meant, clarity about the next step, and a real partner for the road ahead.

School psychologists working inside districts carry enormous caseloads and serve many students at once. That structure exists for many reasons, but it leaves limited room for the kind of depth most families need.

What Private Practice Makes Possible

Opening Crawford Educational Psychology wasn't a departure from that work. It was a chance to go deeper into it.

In private practice, I can spend the time your family deserves. Every evaluation is thorough, unhurried, and built around your child as a whole person. The heart behind the work hasn't changed. What's changed is my capacity to show up for your family more fully.

Briana (LEP #4263) brings 13 years of public education experience to her work, having started her career as a kindergarten teacher before moving into her current role as a school psychologist. That classroom background gives her a grounded, practical perspective on how children learn and what they need to thrive.

She completed her Bachelor's in Psychology at the University of Southern California and earned both a Master's in Education and an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from San Diego State University. She has spent the past eight years working as a school psychologist with every age group, across California, and has found her home in Marin County.

Evaluations Built for Real Life

Every evaluation starts with the same goal: to understand how you or your child thinks, processes, and learns, to surface their unique strengths, and to identify what may be creating barriers, so your family has a clear, actionable path forward.

A Specialized Approach

Neuroaffirming.

A child who learns or experiences the world in a non-typical way isn't broken. Their brain simply works differently, and that difference deserves to be understood, not corrected or shamed.

Strength-based.

Good evaluations don't just document what's hard. They surface what a child does well, too. This isn’t just encouraging. It's useful. Strengths can be leveraged to support areas of challenge, and every recommendation is built with both in mind.

Neuropsychologically grounded.

I hold a Diplomate in School Neuropsychology (ABSNP), one of the highest levels of credentialing in the field. That training allows me to examine how brain function directly shapes the way your child learns, processes, and performs.

School system understanding.

Having spent nearly two decades inside public school districts, I understand the system your child is navigating. I know how IEP meetings run, how eligibility decisions get made, and how to write findings that school teams can act on.

From First Grade to Graduate School

Most of my clients are children and teenagers between 6 and 21, though I work with students of all ages, including adults seeking testing accommodations for college, graduate school, or professional licensing exams. I also see adults of all ages who are seeking an assessment for diagnostic clarification and potential workplace accommodations.

Families or individuals typically come to me when:

Their child is struggling to keep up with their peers in school, despite effort

A teacher or pediatrician has raised concerns about attention, learning, or behavior

They've received a school evaluation but want an independent perspective

They're preparing for a transition to a new school, high school, or college, and need current documentation

Their child is struggling socially, emotionally, or behaviorally in ways that connect to their learning

They're preparing for a high-stakes exam and need documentation to support an accommodations request

In Their Own Words

She has truly helped set our son up for success in high school.
Erin was an absolute gift to our family during a stressful time. Our 15-year-old son has struggled for years academically. He was missing assignments, failing classes, and not performing well on exams, and with the start of high school, it became clear we needed answers. Erin was incredibly responsive and informative from our very first phone call. She explained everything clearly, helped us understand the results, and guided us on how to work with the school to better support our son. She was worth every penny and has truly helped set our son up for success in high school.

What could have been a stressful experience turned into one my child actually described as “fun.”
Erin was absolutely amazing to work with! I had spent months trying to find someone licensed to do assessments, with most places not returning calls or having availability months out. Erin was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and able to explain everything in simple, understandable terms. She was also so warm and welcoming—what could have been a stressful experience turned into one my child actually described as “fun.” I can’t recommend her highly enough!

She took the time to enlighten us to further understand our little one’s needs.
Erin was so much help with our 6 year olds ADHD diagnosis. She was very knowledgeable and really took the time to enlighten us to further understand our little one’s needs. She made the process feel like a breeze and was always open to answering any questions we had. Not only was she very professional with us but she also made our son’s assessment fun and interesting for him. I could not stress enough how much of a help she has been!

We feel so informed and confident moving forward.
Erin was incredibly thorough, and her attention to detail in both the assessment process and the final report was outstanding. We feel so informed and confident moving forward, thanks to her insights and expertise. As an educator, I have worked with many evaluators for my students, and Erin goes above and beyond so many I have worked with. There is truly nothing more we could have asked for throughout this process. We wholeheartedly recommend Erin to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and compassionate evaluator!

We were able to secure an IEP that will better benefit our son to succeed in high school.
Erin not only delivered a thorough and compassionate assessment, she also helped us navigate the complex world of IEPs, 504 plans, and school advocacy. Thanks to her expertise and guidance as well as providing the IEE assessment results, instead of a 504 plan our son was given from his most recent educational assessment we were able to secure an IEP that will better benefit our son to succeed in high school. This will give him the proper support he needs in high school.

We feel more confident and better equipped to support our child.
From the very beginning, we felt supported and understood. The final report was detailed and clear, providing not only a comprehensive understanding of our child’s strengths and challenges but also practical, actionable recommendations for school. Erin helped us feel more confident and better equipped to support our child moving forward. Highly recommend to any parent looking for deeper insight into their child’s learning and development.

We now have a clearer path forward in supporting our child’s educational journey.
Erin’s approach was both thorough and compassionate. She provided clear explanations at every step, which helped us as parents feel fully informed and confident in the recommendations. Her detailed assessment report not only highlighted key areas for growth but also outlined practical strategies we (and her school) could implement right away. Thanks to her guidance, we now have a clearer path forward in supporting our child’s educational journey.

She helped us better hold the school system accountable for providing appropriate support.
Cannot say enough positive things about Erin! Erin was a tremendous resource to our family in helping us think through our child’s unique needs in the context of public middle school. Specifically, her extensive experience practicing in public schools helped us navigate the evaluation process and best advocate for our son’s needs. She was able to make clear and simple what had seemed like a very complicated process which helped us better hold the school system accountable for providing appropriate support and services.
R. P.
She went above and beyond to create a summary of what our son needs.
Erin was wonderful to work with for our son, 10 years old. We weren't sure if there was a problem, and we weren't sure what our options were to find out. Erin explained everything to us and walked us through everything we can expect, including how to work with our school district. Our son didn't even mind going through the process of testing because Erin made it fun for him. And her follow up was super helpful. She went above and beyond to create a summary of what our son needs that we can provide to his future teachers. Overall, this was an amazing experience to help parents help their children.
